Remember the Alamo

The Riverwalk

We made a trip to San Antonio and got to walk along the Riverwalk. I really enjoyed this as it was so beautiful. Sykes came with us and it was interesting to watch how people reacted to him.

The Stockyards

I just love going to the Fort Worth Stockyards. I was so excited when I saw the Texan Cadillac. I just had to jump in and get my picture taken. We really enjoyed watching the armadillo races. I tried to talk Jay into participating but he kept refusing. The race consisted of getting on your hands and knees and blowing on the armadillo's tail to get him going. The winner got a can of Armadillo Milk. We only got to stay for about 20 minutes and then had to get back to work.

The Schlitterbahn

So we finally got to go to The Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, TX while it was open. The first trip we made we found out that the park was only open on weekends. We lucked out cuz the weather was perfect (not too hot or humid). Jay and I enjoyed the lazy river. It had good sized waves and we spent a couple hours just letting the waves push us around. We enjoyed the other rides but it was a lot of work carrying your tube clear to the top of the ride. By the time we got to the top we were out of breath.

Chuck E. Cheese

Jay and I took the boys to Chuck E. Cheese's the day before they were to go back to Idaho and start school. The boys used some of their sign money that they had earned throughout the summer. The boys had so much fun and we laughed so hard when Jayden kicked Jay's butt at the ball game. I just had to get pictures of the score.

Sunday Breakfast

We looked forward to Jeff cooking us breakfast every Sunday. Jeff introduced us to Helga's and Koolaid syrup. These are both super yummy. To make the Helga's you dip a piece of bread into some pancake batter and then cook.

Holy Toads

Not only do we have turtles in Texas but we also have toads. Jay found the first ones over 2 months ago. That day it took Jay about 30 minutes to get Bubba to even touch the toad. Now he can't keep his hands off of them.
We see them outside the apartment complex almost nightly. We made a deal with the kids that once they catch one they can keep it until the following night. One night the kids caught 8!! Since then we have had to limit it to one toad a piece. On another occasion we were walking on the grass and I stepped in something squishy. We looked to see what I stepped on and the kids realized it was a toad. What a gross feeling.
To date the boys have caught a couple dozen. We have never seen so many toads. The boys sure are going to miss them as we don't have any in ID.
